Ingredients
Scale:
1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably fresh)
1/4 cup whole milk
1 pound ground beef
1 pound ground pork
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 large egg
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
4 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon soy sauce
Salt and pepper, to taste
Lingonberry sauce, for serving
Creamy mashed potatoes, for serving
Instructions
In a bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and whole milk. Let the mixture sit for about 5 minutes.
Add the ground beef and ground pork mixture to the breadcrumb mixture, along with the finely chopped onion, egg, salt, pepper, allspice, and nutmeg. Mix gently until just combined.
Form the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
In a large skillet, heat some butter over medium heat and add the meatballs in batches, cooking until browned on all sides, approximately 8-10 minutes.
Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, melt the remaining butter, whisk in the flour to create a roux, stirring constantly for about 2-3 minutes.
Gradually add the beef broth while whisking, then stir in the heavy cream and soy sauce. Cook the sauce for 5-7 minutes until thickened.
Return the meatballs to the skillet and simmer in the sauce for an additional 10 minutes.
