1.5 pounds of flank steak or sirloin, sliced thinly against the grain
1/2 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon minced ginger
1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
4 cups broccoli florets
Sesame seeds for garnish
Chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
Prepare the beef by slicing it thinly against the grain.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, minced ginger, and sesame oil until well combined.
Add the sliced beef to the slow cooker and pour the sauce over it. Stir to coat the beef evenly.
Cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours until the beef is tender.
About 30 minutes before serving, add the broccoli florets to the slow cooker, stirring them into the beef and sauce.
Once done, mix the cornstarch and water slurry into the slow cooker and cook for an additional 10 minutes until the sauce thickens.
Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
