Ground Beef Lo Mein is a delightful dish that beautifully melds the rich flavors of savory beef and fresh vegetables with perfectly cooked noodles. This recipe offers an easy and satisfying way to enjoy a classic Chinese noodle stir fry without the need for a takeout menu.
Ingredients
Scale:
8 oz. homemade lo mein noodles or store-bought lo mein noodles
1 lb. ground beef (preferably 80/20)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil (canola or peanut oil)
1 cup bell peppers, sliced (any color)
1 cup carrots, julienned
1 cup snap peas or snow peas
3 green onions, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
¼ cup soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon water
Instructions
Cook the lo mein noodles according to the package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside, tossing them with a small amount of oil to prevent sticking.
In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
Add the ground beef to the hot skillet. Break it apart with a spatula and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Then, add the sliced bell peppers, carrots, snap peas, and half of the green onions. Stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, and water until smooth. Pour this sauce mixture over the beef and vegetables in the skillet.
Add the cooked lo mein noodles to the skillet. Toss everything gently to ensure the noodles are well coated in the sauce and heated through for about 2-3 minutes.
