A delightful dish that brings comfort food to the forefront of your dining table, combining the classic flavors of a cheeseburger into a delicious, hearty meal that is not only satisfying but also simple to prepare.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 pound ground beef or ground beef alternatives (like lentils or plant-based crumbles)
1 medium onion, chopped
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or dairy-free cheese for a vegan option)
1 pre-made baked pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
4 large eggs
1 cup milk (or plant-based milk)
1/4 cup flour (or gluten-free flour)
1 teaspoon baking powder
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef (or alternative) and chopped onion. Cook until the meat is browned and the onions are translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well and remove from heat. Incorporate chopped pickles and half of the shredded cheese into the filling.
Place the pre-made pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish. Evenly spread the meat mixture into the crust, ensuring it is well-distributed.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, flour, and baking powder until smooth. Pour this mixture over the meat filling in the pie crust.
Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top of the pie. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the top is set and golden brown. The pie should puff slightly and have a slight jiggle in the center.
Allow the pie to cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. This will help the layers to set. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
