Lemon mousse is a light and fluffy dessert that perfectly balances zesty lemon flavor with a delicate, airy consistency. This no-bake dessert is ideal for refreshing summer treats or elegant dinner parties.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon lemon zest
Pinch of salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Edible flowers for an elegant touch (optional)
Instructions
In a medium bowl, combine the granulated sugar and lemon zest. Use your fingers to rub the zest into the sugar until it becomes fragrant and slightly moist.
In a separate large bowl, pour the heavy cream and whip it using an electric mixer. Start on low speed, gradually increasing to high until soft peaks form. This will take about 3 to 5 minutes.
Gently fold the lemon-sugar mixture into the whipped cream using a spatula. Be careful not to deflate the cream while incorporating the ingredients.
Add the fresh lemon juice to the mixture. Continue folding gently until the juice is evenly distributed, resulting in a smooth, light, and fluffy lemon mousse.
If desired, add vanilla extract and fold it in until combined.
Transfer the lemon mousse into individual serving glasses or bowls. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld and the mousse to set.
Before serving, garnish with fresh mint leaves or additional lemon zest for an extra touch of elegance.
