1 lb ground beef (or turkey for a lighter option)
1 cup marinara sauce (check for low-sugar options)
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup sliced pepperoni (optional)
1/2 cup diced bell peppers (optional)
1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)
1/4 cup chopped onions (optional)
Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.
Once the meat is cooked, drain any excess fat and stir in the marinara sauce. Allow it to simmer for 2-3 minutes.
In a greased oven-safe bowl or baking dish, spread half of the meat and sauce mixture evenly at the bottom.
Sprinkle a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the meat mixture, then add any optional toppings you desire.
