A versatile and incredibly easy-to-make frosting that transforms any cake or cupcake from ordinary to extraordinary. Whether you're celebrating a birthday, a holiday, or simply indulging in a sweet craving, this frosting is light, fluffy, and bursting with flavor.
Ingredients
Scale:
3 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup cocoa powder (for chocolate variation)
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
4 tablespoons heavy cream (or milk)
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup cream cheese (for cream cheese frosting variation)
Flavor extracts (almond, lemon, etc.)
Instructions
Prepare your mixing bowl: Start with a large mixing bowl and make sure it’s clean and dry. This will help in achieving a smooth and airy texture for your frosting.
Mix the butter: In the bowl, add 1 cup of softened unsalted butter. Beat it with an electric mixer on medium speed until it’s light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
Add the powdered sugar: Gradually sift in 3 cups of powdered sugar, mixing on low speed to avoid a sugar cloud. Once incorporated, increase the speed to medium and continue beating until well combined.
Incorporate the cream: Pour in 4 tablespoons of heavy cream and 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract. Beat the mixture on medium-high speed for an additional 2-3 minutes.
Adjust consistency: If the frosting is too thick, add a little more cream, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.
Flavor it up: If you’re going for chocolate, add 1/2 cup of cocoa powder and mix until fully incorporated.
Final whip: Once all ingredients are mixed, whip the frosting for another minute to achieve a light and fluffy texture.
