Ingredients
Scale:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 large egg, at room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and brown sugar. Whisk until smooth and creamy.
Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture. Whisk until well incorporated.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring gently with a spatula until just combined.
Fold in the chopped pecans and chocolate chips (if using).
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly to the edges with a spatula.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are firm and the center is slightly soft but set.
Remove from the oven and allow the blondies to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes.
Lift the blondies out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting into squares.
