Philly Cheesesteak St■ Peppers are a delicious and creative twist on the classic cheesesteak sandwich. This dish combines all the savory flavors of a traditional Philly cheesesteak—tender beef, sautéed onions, and gooey cheese—st■ into vibrant bell peppers.
Prepare the bell peppers: Cut the tops off the peppers and remove the seeds and membranes. Lightly brush the outside with olive oil and place them upright in a baking dish.
In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté the chopped onion until translucent, about 4-5 minutes. If using mushrooms, add them and cook until softened.
Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 6-8 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
Season the meat with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine and cook for an additional minute.
Remove from heat and stir in shredded provolone cheese until melted and combined.
Fill each bell pepper with the cheesesteak filling and pack it tightly.
Top with additional cheese if desired.
Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil, bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until peppers are tender and cheese is bubbly.
Let them cool for a few minutes and garnish before serving.
