A hearty, comforting dish that has its roots in traditional Amish cooking.
Ingredients
Scale:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 packet of beef noodle soup mix (or homemade equivalent)
- 8 ounces of egg noodles
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks, until it is no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the diced onion to the skillet with the ground beef and cook until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the beef noodle soup mix (or your homemade equivalent) to the skillet, stirring to combine with the beef and onion mixture.
- Transfer the mixture to your slow cooker.
- Add the egg noodles on top of the beef mixture in the slow cooker.
- Cook on low for 3-4 hours or on high for 1.5-2 hours, until the noodles are tender and the flavors have melded together.
- Serve hot, garnished with chopped fresh herbs if desired, such as parsley or thyme.
