Ingredients
Scale:
2-3 pounds beef round steaks
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon ground black pepper (optional, for added spice)
1 cup beef broth
1 cup onion, chopped
2 cups mushrooms, sliced (optional)
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
Season the beef round steaks generously with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and dried thyme. Make sure to cover all sides for the best flavor.
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the seasoned steaks. Sear each side for about 3-4 minutes until they are golden brown.
Place the browned steaks in the slow cooker.
Sprinkle the chopped onions and optional mushrooms over the top of the beef in the slow cooker.
In a bowl, combine the beef broth, cream of mushroom soup, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir until well mixed, and pour this mixture over the steaks and vegetables in the slow cooker.
Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours until the beef is fork-tender.
About 30 minutes before serving, stir in the cornstarch and water mixture to thicken the gravy.
Once cooked, carefully remove the steaks and serve them hot with the gravy drizzled on top. Sprinkle some freshly chopped parsley over the dish for garnish.
