3/4 cup buttermilk (or substitute with milk mixed with vinegar)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, and 1 teaspoon salt. Stir until well combined.
Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, blend the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs with pea-sized pieces of butter.
Pour in the 3/4 cup of buttermilk and stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it gently 2-3 times until it comes together. Pat it into a rectangle about 1-inch thick. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out rounds and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown on top. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned.
