This dish combines the classic flavors of a Western omelet—think bell peppers, onions, and savory ham—into a delightful quiche that’s perfect for any meal of the day.
Ingredients
Scale:
6 large eggs
1 cup milk
1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 cup diced bell peppers (red, green, or a mix)
1/2 cup diced onion
1 cup diced cooked ham
Fresh parsley or chives for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare the Vegetables: In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the diced bell peppers and onions until they are tender, approximately 5-7 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent burning. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Beat the Eggs: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until well combined.
Add the Fillings: Stir in the sautéed bell peppers, onions, and diced ham into the egg mixture. Then, fold in the shredded cheese until evenly distributed.
Pour into Dish: Grease a 9-inch pie dish or quiche pan with non-stick spray or butter. Pour the egg mixture into the prepared dish, ensuring an even distribution of ingredients.
Bake the Quiche: Place the quiche in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is lightly golden. You can check for doneness by inserting a knife into the center; it should come out clean.
Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove the quiche from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes before slicing.
