Every bite of these 5 ingredient apple dumplings takes you on a delightful journey through the flavors of fall. This timeless dessert combines tender, sweet apples with a buttery pastry dough, making it a favorite in many homes.
Ingredients
Scale:
2 large apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 package refrigerated crescent roll dough (8 oz)
1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Peel, core, and slice the apples into wedges. In a mixing bowl, combine the wedges with granulated sugar and ground cinnamon until the apples are well-coated.
Open the package of crescent roll dough and unroll it onto a clean surface. Press the seams together to seal any gaps.
Cut the dough into squares—approximately 4x4 inches. Place a spoonful of the apple mixture in the center of each square. Fold the corners of the dough over the apple filling to create a pouch.
Place the dumplings in a greased baking dish. Drizzle melted butter over each dumpling.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the apples are tender.
Mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a small bowl. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar over the top of the warm dumplings.
Allow the dumplings to cool for a few minutes before serving. They can be paired with vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, or whipped cream.
