4 large eggs
2 cups whole milk
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (for topping)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs until they are well mixed.
Add the granulated sugar and salt to the beaten eggs, mixing thoroughly until the sugar is dissolved.
Gradually pour in the milk while whisking continuously.
Stir in the vanilla extract.
Prepare a baking dish by placing it in a larger pan for the water bath method.
Pour the custard mixture into the baking dish.
Sprinkle the ground nutmeg on top of the custard mixture.
Carefully add hot water to the outer pan until it reaches about halfway up the sides of the baking dish.
Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 40-45 minutes.
Once done, remove the custard from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
