Apple crescent dumplings are the perfect blend of comfort and flavor, making them a standout choice for any occasion. These delightful pastries combine tender, flaky crescent rolls with sweet, spiced apples, enveloping them in a warm embrace of cinnamon and sugar.
Ingredients
Scale:
2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent rolls
2 medium-sized apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced into thin wedges
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup water
1 cup granulated sugar for the sauce
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Caramel sauce for drizzling (optional)
Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving (optional)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a medium bowl, mix the sliced apples with 1/4 cup of granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Let them sit for a few minutes.
Carefully unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles.
Place a spoonful of the apple mixture at the wide end of each triangle and roll the dough around it, sealing the edges tightly.
Place the rolled dumplings in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of granulated sugar over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and remove from heat.
Pour the warm sauce over the arranged dumplings and drizzle melted butter on top.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until golden brown and the apples are tender.
Serve warm, drizzled with caramel sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream if desired.
