Ingredients
Scale:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 ½ cups buttermilk
½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
3 tablespoons butter, melted
¼ cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Grease an 8x8-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper and set aside.
In a large bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Stir until well mixed.
Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the buttermilk. Mix gently until just combined; the dough will be sticky and shaggy.
Pour the melted butter into the prepared baking dish. Carefully transfer the biscuit dough into the dish, spreading it evenly so it 'swims' in the butter. Use a spatula to smooth the top.
In a small bowl, mix the remaining melted butter with the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon to create the cinnamon butter spread.
Brush the cinnamon butter spread generously over the top of the biscuit dough.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Remove the dish from the oven and let the biscuits cool for around 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
