Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. Spread the shredded coconut evenly across the bottom of the prepared pan. Layer the chopped pecans over the coconut.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, prepare the chocolate cake mix according to the package instructions by combining the mix with eggs, water, and vegetable oil. Blend until smooth and pour the batter over the coconut and pecans in the pan.
  4. In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth and well combined.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture over the chocolate cake batter. Use a knife to swirl the cream cheese into the batter, creating a marbled effect.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is slightly jiggly. A toothpick inserted near the center should come out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Let the cake cool in the pan on a wire rack.
