Italian Crescent Casserole is a delightful blend of savory flavors and comforting textures, making it a perfect addition to your family meals. This dish combines the richness of Italian sausage with the delightful flakiness of crescent rolls, resulting in a creamy cheese casserole that’s not only easy to prepare but also incredibly satisfying.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 pound Italian sausage (mild or spicy, your choice)
1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent rolls
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup ricotta cheese
3 large eggs
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon Italian herbs and spices (like oregano and basil)
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (for topping)
Fresh parsley or basil for garnishing (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat until browned and fully cooked, about 7-10 minutes. Drain any excess fat and set aside.
On a lightly greased 9x13-inch baking dish, roll out the crescent rolls to form a crust, pressing the seams together firmly.
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, eggs, grated Parmesan cheese, Italian herbs and spices, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.
Add the cooked Italian sausage to the cheese mixture, stirring gently until evenly distributed.
Pour the sausage and cheese mixture over the crescent roll crust, spreading it evenly.
Sprinkle an additional 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley or basil if desired.
