Ingredients
Scale:
1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and black pepper to taste
4 slices of cheese (American, Swiss, or Cheddar)
1 large onion, sliced
4 slices of bread (rye or sourdough)
Butter for spreading on bread
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon pickle relish
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, pickle relish, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until smooth, then set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently and shape into four patties.
Heat a skillet over medium-low heat and sauté sliced onions for about 15-20 minutes until caramelized. Set aside.
Increase heat to medium-high and cook the beef patties for 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip, adding cheese on top. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until cheese melts.
Spread butter on each slice of bread. Layer grilled onions on top of the melted cheese, then assemble the sandwich and press down gently.
