Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Divide mixture into four equal portions and shape into oval patties. Keep thickness uniform for even cooking.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add patties and cook until browned on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove patties and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add butter and melt. Add sliced mushrooms and sauté until golden brown and tender, about 5 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle flour over mushrooms and stir to coat. Cook for an additional minute.
  6. Gradually add beef broth, stirring continuously to prevent lumps. Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to taste.
  7. Bring mixture to a simmer and allow to thicken, about 3-5 minutes. Stir continuously.
  8. Return Salisbury steak patties to skillet, ensuring they are well-coated with mushroom gravy. Simmer for another 10 minutes.
  9. Place potato chunks and garlic cloves in a large pot. Cover with water and add a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil and cook until potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  10. Drain potatoes and garlic, then return to pot. Add milk and butter, mash until smooth and creamy.
  11. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in chopped parsley if desired.
